As Summer transitions to Fall I hope all is well with you and your family as recent memories lead to amazing adventures ahead. Something that I’ve been thinking about and wanted to share with you is my belief that within each of us is a Hero.
Simply put, I call this “The Hero Within”.
Now this Hero doesn’t need to be of epic proportions. It doesn’t need to be on constant display it can come out and fade away or in some cases fate intervenes and awakens The Hero Within when we least expect it. Being a Hero can also be seen through simple and significant acts like holding a door open for someone or helping a friend or stranger when asked or without prompting. Then there are those brave individuals who find their inner Hero and it inspires them so much that they choose to risk their life in the service of others. First responders and military personnel are amazing examples of inspired Heroes and they have my utmost respect.
I honor them.
Which brings me to this challenge and an opportunity for you.
On June 30, 2013, while battling a fire in Yarnell, AZ, 19 members of an elite firefighting team (known as ‘hotshots’) lost their lives trying to protect the community and people they loved. That’s 19 out of 20. An absolute tragedy but even one life lost is too many. These hotshots had family’s… wives and children who now find themselves in need of help during this difficult time.
On Saturday, August 31, 2013 there will be a memorial workout and fundraiser organized by CrossFit to honor and remember these 19 Heroes.
Please consider joining me in supporting this effort and honoring these Heroes by contributing to http://hotshots19.crossfit.com.
100% of the donations will be distributed to the families.
If you want to be a Hero… donate (any amount).
If you want to be an inspired Hero… donate and share with the other Heroes you know will rise to the challenge.
Together we can make a huge difference and that is the truth!
Much love.
